| I'm a born and bred Jersey Girl, and love all things related to our great state—the shore, the shopping, Bruce Springsteen, just to name a few. I still reside in Bergen County, and it's a great place to live and raise kids. And with the bustle of New York City only about a half hour away, it's convenient too. Having two kids and full-time day job doesn't leave me a lot of time for writing, but I try to cram as much in as possible. It's easy to lose myself in the world of romance after a day of sales numbers and dirty diapers. There's just something about two people realizing they are meant for each other, and the path they take to get there is exciting to follow with them. Of course, my characters tend to have traits that are a little more than human, although even my human characters find themselves in the midst of situations that are far from ordinary. I've been writing my entire life, since childhood, and completed my first novel at 14, hand-written in a 5 subject spiral notebook. Of course, most of it was written when I should have been taking notes in class, but does anyone really need to know all those algebra equations? Looking back, I realize even that story was a romance, though I certainly didn't think of it that way at the time. Seeing Dracula on the Broadway stage (portrayed by the late Raul Julia) changed my perception of what a hero should be. The misunderstood bad boy, who likes who he is and isn't about to give up on what he wants is a favorite of mine. My aunt still teases me about the end of the play, when Dracula was staked and destroyed, and I cried out “Nooo!” The heroes in my stories changed soon after that, but as I got older I realized something was missing, I just didn't know what. That's when my mother told me I should read a Nora Roberts novel. The light bulb went on. I had found my niche. I've been reading and writing romance ever since, and I plan to continue for a long time. |
